Gather The Wisdom Of God!

When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you;
Understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil,
from the man who speaks perverse things, from those who leave the paths of uprightness
to walk in the ways of darkness”   Proverbs 2:10-13 (NKJV)

Why does the Word of God put such emphasis on wisdom?  Why is it so important to be wise?  What is the difference between knowledge and wisdom?

Wisdom is knowing how and when to apply knowledge.  You can have an IQ that is off the charts but still be considered a fool.  You do not have to be a genius to be wise.

God wants His children to be wise for several reasons.  First, wisdom leads to acts of discretion and Proverbs 2:11 says this trait will preserve us.  Wisdom also helps to deliver us from evil and men with perverse ways, those who have left the path of uprightness.

We learn lessons by simply living through circumstances, both joyful and painful.  A wise person meditates on what was learned and gathers it to his memory for future use.  If lessons are not applied to future circumstances, we may have to repeat the lesson over and over until it has been mastered.  God teaches us all the same spiritual lessons, He simply uses different situations that will speak to us individually.

I pray you seriously consider the quest of gaining wisdom and applying it to your life, not just for your benefit but for the sake and well-being of all you hold dear.
