Holy Spirit Discernment

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1 (NKJV)

“Having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”   2 Timothy 3:5 (NKJV)                                                                                                        ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you are an Oprah fan you should watch this video. She is lost and leading many astray. She has fallen into a New Age religion. We need to pray for her and for those she is leading astray.

Times are getting darker and trials lie ahead. Don’t put your faith in a person, not even your Pastor.  Put your faith in God alone! There are good leaders in the church, but we all need to DISCERN and test Christian leaders with scripture, like the Bereans of old.

Just because somebody you respect believes or teaches something does not mean what they teach is right. Like sheep, we can be led astray by wolves in sheep’s clothing. This is why every believer needs to be in the Word of God on a daily basis. Don’t totally rely on others to feed you, feed yourself!!

This is a good link if you want to read more about False Teachers….                               http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Bible-Verses-About-False-Teachers/                        +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

“If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.” 1 Timothy 6:3-6 (NIV)

“Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, They went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. ” Acts 17:10-11 (NKJV)

  1. In the West in general, celebrity and fame can make people seem they have all the answers, and we lionise people like Oprah, the Queen, President Obama, the Pope and many other people simply because they are placed above ordinary people for one reason or another. None of them have the answers, no matter how smooth sounding their voices or persuasive their argument or clever they may appear. They are all fallible and we cannot have any faith in them at all. We can respect them, even like them and listen to them, but having faith in any person is futile in the end because their fate is the same as everyone else and they bleed the same as everyone else. Even those we love can let us down; so have faith in God is the only answer for us all!

  2. Faith must be in the Word of God alone. I have been a Christian for thirty years and welcome build up and encouragement from other believers but it always remains in my mind what my father used to say when I was a child and my siblings and myself used to argue with one another. We would say to our father ‘Dad, dad, who is right?’, and our father would always go and get his Bible and say ‘Let’s see what the Lord says’. He would always know where to look for an answer, I believe now usually from Proverbs or Ecclesiastes, but that is what I do now to find the truth.

Brenda, thanks for the comment. More believers need to practice going to the Word for answers. I think some of us have become lazy and just let others feed the Word to us. It is fine to listen to Pastors on the radio, but this does not excuse us from reading the Word ourselves. Blessings!

  3. As a Catholic, I do believe in our Pope, and our Saints. I am not saying they are/were perfect, because only God is perfect, but I do believe some people are holy and have a a special calling and act/live accordingly to their mission.
About Oprah and others, I do not believe in them. Cheryl thanks for sharing this video, I had no idea about Oprah’s beliefs.

      Hi Sandra,
I feel it is my duty to speak words of encouragement, hope, instruction, and warning. I want us to be wise as the times are dark and there are false teachers out there. Blessings, dear friend.

  4. Interesting video. It is kind of new age-ish really though. Jesus is the door.
