In It, but Not of it. Heaven is a true home!

AB IN It Not Of It

For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.“ Hebrews 13:14 NKJV

If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.” John 15:19-21

My heart has been wrestling with God and my spirit deep in prayer regarding our President’s call to act upon Syria, whose leader decided to gas his own people, including many children. The act reverberates of the injustices done to the Jews in WWII. I don’t know what Congress will decide.  I don’t believe there is a good outcome one way, or the other.  Times are very dark and anxiety can come upon us like a smothering hand that takes our breath away. Yet, we are told to be anxious about NOTHING.

The conclusion I have reached is this:  God is in control and we all need to pray for HIS will to be done.  I am also asking for mercy and grace, protection, and justice on behalf of the United States and Israel.  The situation in Syria is very complicated and so, I trust God sees my concern and my desire for His guidance and help. Chemical warfare, used on innocent children, should be acknowledged but the US has no allies and our President is seen as weak and indecisive.

With my opinion stated, I now get to the real point of this post, after all, encouragement is always my number one motive and goal.  We are sojourners in this world.  Our home is heaven, not earth.  As times get darker and wars and the rumor of wars increase, Christians will find it harder and harder to remain faithful. Greater persecution and suffering will come our way in the United States. We must hold tight to the promises of God and build up our most holy faith. God reigns now and will forever more!

Fear is a tool of the enemy, so we must cast aside our anxieties and lean not on our own understanding.  God’s ways are not our ways. He is in control, and with that understanding I encourage you to find peace.

Our nation, and the world, is now on a dangerous ride. We need to be on our knees praying for the United States, our political leaders, Israel, and Syria.

We also need to ready ourselves. The rapture may occur with our generation. Again, our home is with God in heaven and we are to live as aliens in this world. (I don’t mean like aliens who ride along in spaceships… although that is probably how the world will explain the rapture of the church.)

“Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.”  1 Peter 2:11-12 (NKJV)

As a brother in Christ I have always been bothered by this statement because it is not entirely theologically correct. I would correct it by saying, “Not of the world, but sent into it.” Just thought I would offer my opinion.
